Although spring break seems a long way away, it is time to start thinking about reservations. If you think you may have a large group traveling, it is particularly important to get started on your reservations. Many cruise lines and resorts will give special pricing to groups, but it will become more difficult to find availability as we get closer to one of the busiest weeks of the year for travel. Hi Everyone,
The TSA is beginning implementation of the new Secure Flight program. This new program is supposed to help streamline the watch list and help prevent misidentifications. Next time you buy an airline ticket you will most likely be required to provide your name as it appears on a government issued ID, date of birth, and gender. This program is being phased in with the goal of being fully implemented in early 2010 for all domestic flights and the end of 2010 for all international flights. If you want more info on this new program you can go to www.tsa.gov.

Resorts
Sandals and Beaches are offering savings of up to 65%, 1 night free, and $250 Red Lane spa credits for fall travel. These are luxury resorts. Sandals are the adult only resorts and Beaches are for the entire family.
Atlantis: 3 nights from $299 per person with over $650 worth of Atlantis-based experiences. Rate based on Sunday or Monday arrival from travel through 10/31/09. Book by 10/30/09.

Feedback Wanted!
It is time for me to begin planning our annual Girlfriend Getaway for March. Although it seems like a long way off, planning gets started early. Weekly Specials for August 10

Hi Everyone,

Skip and I spent this past weekend inspecting some of Carnival's cruise ships. We inspected the Liberty, Freedom, Destiny, and Imagination. It was interesting to watch the boarding process and also to observe the crew trying to ready the staterooms for passengers about to embark just a short time after saying goodbye to those who had just disembarked! We also had a chance to sample the buffets and look at several different types of staterooms. What a great experience for us. One of the things that struck both of us was how meticulous the crew was in cleaning and disinfecting the ship. Although it was quite a whirlwind experience, it was very interesting to get a little behind the scenes look at how cruise lines prepare for their guests.

Resorts and All-Inclusive Packages
Apple Vacations: Apple is the company that will begin flying direct routes from Lansing to Cancun at the end of the year. They have a wide variety of properties in Mexico, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Hawaii is on sale right now. For example, stay at the Aston Aloha Beach in Kauai for 6 nights on select weeks this fall for $869 per person. Rental car and air from Detroit is included.
Also, if you don't want to travel quite as far, The Grand Bahai Principe Jamaica, a five "apple" resort is on sale for $629 per person including air, 5 nts. hotel, transfers, all meals, drinks and entertainment.
Club Med: $99 WOW Sale. Select travel dates in September and October. Rate is per person and requires a minimum 3 nt. stay. Book by 8/31/09
Disney News: Disney raised their ticket prices today. Apparently, the first Sunday in August is a traditional time for that to happen, and so it did. If you are planning to visit the mouse, it will cost a bit more.
